AMD Processors are equal and in some instances, more powerful than certain Intel Processors, however it is our experience and preference towards the Intel Chipset. We have run all of our workstations and trial laptops upon the Intel Platform for since 2003.
It has also been our experience that we recommend the ATI Video Chipset over NVIDIA, primarily for backwards compatibility with older presentation component systems (i.e. older Video Projectors, "Pre-Wired" Courtrooms, etc.). With that, we recommend laptops that are running upon the ATI Chipset.
More and more laptops are no longer being manufactured with internal CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, due to the increase of usage in Solid State Memory (i.e. Flash Drives). Do make sure that your laptop either has an internal or external ROM Drive available for CD/DVD based media.
We also recommend the usage of EXTERNAL storage devices (i.e. External Hard Drives) for extensively large amounts of electronic evidence. Ranging in sizes from 500MB to 2TB (Terabyte) external storage provides a safe and easy means to store your data and resources, outside of your local laptop’s storage capabilities. This not only provides a means to effectively store your evidence data, but also gives you a redundancy factor in Court.
