Creating Clips with Clip Lists

The Clip Creator can also create clips directly from an ASCII text file.

To create a clip list file, using any text editor, enter the start page and line of the clip followed by a "+" sign and the end line and page. Separate the page and line numbers with a "."

Example:

87.13+90.3 - begin on page 87, line 13 and ending on page 90, line 3

17.2+17.5 - begin on page 17, line 2 and ending on page 17, line 5

Loading a Clip list

Clip Lists can only be loaded when the Clip Creator tab is active. You cannot import a clip list from any other screen.

To load a clip list:

Select the Clip Creator tab if it is not the current screen tab.

From the main screen Import menu, select Clip Lists.

Select the type of clip list to import from the drop down list. Sanction II can import clips from lists exported from several third party products. Be sure you select the proper type of import, as the clip list import will fail if you attempt to load a file in a different format than the selection.

Locate the clip list text file and click on the Open button.

Once you have selected the clip list text file, you will be prompted to enter a naming convention. Sanction II provides for two types of clip naming. The default choice is the Group name followed by the current consecutive clip number. Optionally, you may enter a clip prefix which will be appended with page.line information, or use your own custom ID naming scheme.

In addition to the above choices, You may also choose to enter an ID and description directly in the list by placing a "," after the entry and then typing an ID, typing another "," and typing a description:

87.13+90.3, Bass,Employment History

17.2+17.5, Bass,Previous honors

Any ID/Description information in the list file will overwrite the other naming selection choice.

Importing Issue Reports Generated from Third Party Products

You may also load issue reports created by LiveNoteÔ , SummationÔ and RealLegalÔ to automatically create media clip segments. In order for issue reports to work correctly, you must first add the transcript PTF file and associated media files.

Once the transcript has been added and associated. Clips can be created by selecting the appropriate third party Issue Report from the Clip List import menu selection.
