Sanction II Field Importer

The Field Importer utility allows you to import information from other files by matching them with an existing Sanction II Item ID.

This provides an additional level of support when original field information cannot be directly imported by one of the existing Sanction II imports.

To use the Field Importer successfully, you must have a valid Microsoft Access or dbaseIII database file, Excel spreadsheet or ASCII text file with each line of text delimited by a common character. At least one field must match an Item ID from Sanction II. Optionally, you may use a unique file name as a key field, however using an item ID is strongly recommended as duplicate file names are possible in larger case databases.

To import data with the Field Importer:

1.    Select the file you wish to import by clicking on the Locate button.

2.    If the file is a database or spreadsheet, select the correct source sheet or table.

3.    From the Source Fields list, drag the field which corresponds to the Sanction II ID field onto the Sanction II Destination ID field.

4.    Drag the remaining fields to their corresponding Sanction II fields. If you wish to import data into the Coding fields, click on the Use Coding Fields check box.

5.    Click on the Import button to import the data.

Note – If you wish to import coding field data and Descriptions or Exhibit numbers, you must run the Import twice – once with Use Coding Fields enabled, and once without. This is because the description and exhibit number fields are stored in different tables than the coding data.
