Using Sanction II with iConect and Concordance
One of the most powerful new features in Sanction II is the ability to automatically download and add image data from a ConcordanceÔ database though an iConectÔ internet connection. After selecting the images you want from iConect, a download file is created which will automatically copy and add not only the image files, but also image data from selected coding fields in ConcordanceÔ.
From the iConectÔ Case Manager screen, select the case you wish to load.
Select the appropriate Query to locate the documents you wish to download (see the iConectÔ and ConcordanceÔ documentation for details on creating queries.)
1. Click on the iConect Export tab.
2. Click on the
button.
3. From the Trial Presentation category, select Sanction II.
4. Click o the
button.
5. Select the documents to Export form the available options (see the iConectÔ documentation for more information).
6. Click o the
button.
7. If you wish to include coded field information, match the Export filed to the appropriate Sanction II coding field.
8. Click on the
button.
Once the selected documents have been processed, click on the scl file hyperlink to download and add the items to Sanction II. (Note – if you click on the Close button without first downloading the scl file, you will have to repeat the above procedures.)
Once you have clicked on the .scl file hyperlink, you will be prompted with the following dialog:

Click on
button to begin. (Note – if you choose Save, you can still download the information, but you will have to manually add the .scl file to Sanction II – see the trouble shooting topic below for more information)
At this point, the following steps occur in Sanction II:
The Sanction II cabinet load (.scl) file is downloaded locally to the users hard drive.
If Sanction II is not currently running, it is automatically launched.
A message dialog pops up providing a choice to add the downloaded items to the current case, a different case or a new case:

The images are extracted from the downloaded .scl file and copied to the selected case\CaseItems subdirectory. A new subdirectory is created based on the scl file name.
The item file information is then added to the database.
Finally, the coding fields (if present) are added to the database.
Important – if you attempt to add items to a Sanction II case which have already been added, the Duplicate item dialog will display. If you choose to replace any items, the coding information will be overwritten with the coding information in the .scl file.
Additional information on linking with iConect can be found at their web site www.iconect.net.
Trouble shooting
If you experience a problem when opening an .scl file directly from an Internet connection, you may wish to download the file directly to your hard drive. .SCL files can be dragged and dropped onto a Sanction II case just like any other load file.
In addition, if you have a copy of WinZipÓ, you may open the .scl file and extract the files and load file directly and add the items manually. Note, depending on the location of the extracted files, you may need to use the Case Editor utility to update the file paths.
