Adding as Individual Items/Multi-page Tif

When adding as individual items, Sanction II will use the filename of the dragged item(s) as both the item ID and Group name. Each file will become it's own Group having a single page.

If your source files are multi-page tifs, a new record is added to the database for each page.

Note - You may rename items added individually by right clicking and selecting Edit.

Important - If you are adding multi-page tifs, be sure that you select the Individual/multi-page option. By default, Sanction II disables the other options automatically by checking for the first item for multiple pages. If the first file is a single page the other options will still be enabled.

Choosing any other option will not tag multi-page tifs correctly and may cause unusual behavior in Presentation Mode.

Multi-page tif limitations

Multi-page tif files provide an excellent medium for managing and displaying tif images, however it is important to understand how multi-page items are handled by Sanction II.

Since a Sanction II case database contains the file path/page information for every item added to a case, the same multi-page tif file is referenced for each page in the document. If you delete a page from the list view, the page IS NOT deleted from the actual tif image file. Only the database page number record is removed. Therefore, if you delete a page from a 10 page document, Sanction II will display 9 pages for the Group, but the actual source tif file will still contain 10 pages. This will not become an issue unless you attempt to rename or renumber the pages within the group.

Do not rename or renumber multi-page tif files if you have deleted pages!

If you wish to renumber these items, you must first delete the actual missing pages from the source tif file. This cannot be done directly from Sanction II. You must use a third party image utility program.
