Setting up Sanction II for Multiple User Access

In order to allow multiple users access to case databases, transcripts, etc., you must change the root case path in the Sanction II program settings. By default, when you install Sanction II on a local drive the root case path is set to "Program Files\Sanction II\Cases" (or whatever path you initially installed to). As cases are created, sub directories are added under the Cases directory for each unique case.

To change the root path and point Sanction II to a network path, you must do the following on each installed user's copy of Sanction II:

1. From the Tools Menu, select Settings.

2. From the Misc Settings Tab, click on the Add button and browse to the new case location. Sanction II will automatically append the directory "\Cases" to the selected directory.

3. Choose OK.

After choosing OK, you will be prompted with a warning message about changing the root case location. Choose OK to continue.

The above steps MUST be done on each user's machine if they are to have shared case database access!

To return a user to local access, follow the above procedure and change the root case path back to the original case database location.

Note - if at all possible, use UNC names when browsing and adding items to a network case. This insures that users will not accidentally add or edit items in the case with a drive letter mapping not shared by other users.
